Testing conducted by Apple in September 2019 on pre-production AirPods (2nd generation), charging case and wireless charging case and software paired with iPhone XS Max and pre-release software. The playlist consisted of 358 individual songs purchased from the iTunes Store (256 Kbps AAC encoding). The volume was set to 50%. Testing consisted of draining full AirPods batteries while streaming audio until one of the earbuds stopped playing. The discharged AirPods were charged to 100 percent, and then continued to play until one earbud stopped playing. This cycle repeated itself until both AirPods were completely drained. Battery life depends on device settings, usage and many other factors.
